COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces students to the use of simple and complex graphic tools used to communicate and understand ideas and concepts found in the areas of architecture, manufacturing, engineering, science, and mathematics. Topics include problem-solving strategies, classical representation methods such as sketching, geometric construction techniques, as well as computer assisted design (CAD), orthographic projection, and 3-D modeling. English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include apprenticeship, cooperative education, internship, and job shadowing. SkillsUSA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.
Essential Standards
Unit 1 Understand Fundamental Concepts and Trends of Drafting
1.01 Understand BIM, and Rapid Prototyping.
1.02 Understand Industrial Design, Sustainable Design, and LEED.
1.03 Understand Career Options.
Unit 2 Understand the Ideation process (big 6 in academia)
Unit 3 Apply sketching skills and techniques (Architectural & Engineering)
3.01 Apply Rough sketching (lettering for clarity, uppercase caps).
3.02 Apply 2D sketching – Single and Multi-view.
3.03 Apply 3D sketching – Pictorials (isometric, oblique).
Unit 4 Apply CAD User Skills (with use of the following CAD software)
4.01 Apply procedures for working with the User interface (navigation tools).
4.02 Apply procedures for creating drawings. Review Geometric Shapes.
4.03 Apply procedures for manipulating objects.
4.04 Working with the drawing organization and inquiry commands
4.05 Apply procedures for altering objects (modifying).
4.06 Apply procedures for working with layouts (templates, viewports).
4.07 Apply procedures for annotating the drawing (adding Text).
4.08 Apply procedures for dimensioning.
4.09 Apply procedures for hatching objects (Drawing enhancements).
4.10 Apply procedures for working with reusable content (blocks).
4.11 Apply procedures for creating Additional drawing objects.
4.12 Apply procedures for plotting the drawing

Internet Safety Training
In accordance with Board Policy 2313/3013/4013 and the 21stCentury Act (Public Law No:110:385, Oct. 10, 2008) all students will be trained annually in Internet safety. School districts are required to educate students about:
