Architecture II Course Syllabus

 

Course Description:

This course is focused on the principles, concepts, and the use of complex graphic tools utilized in the field of architecture, structural systems, and construction trades. Emphasis is placed on the application of CAD tools in the creation of floor plans, foundation plans, basic roof plans, wall sections, and elevation drawings. Mathematical, scientific, and visual design concepts are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course are apprenticeship and cooperative education. Skills in communication, mathematics, science, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving are reinforced in this course. Job shadowing is an appropriate work-based learning strategy for this course.

Course Objectives

Leadership Development Unit- Students will demonstrate job-seeking and interview skills

Computer Aided Design Software Unit- Students will demonstrate Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) skills to produce drawings

Floor Plans Unit-.Students will draw multiple floor plans for numerous types of houses and structures.

Foundation Plans Unit- Identify terminology related to foundation plans. Students will be create a full set of  plans for construction.

Basic Roof Design Unit- Identify terms and definitions related to roof plans. Students will create fully detailed roof plans for construction.

Sections and Details Unit- Identify terms and definitions related to sections and details. Students will draw multiple sections details for builder to construct.

Exterior Elevations Unit- Identify terms and definitions related to exterior elevations.  Students will draw multiple elevations for numerous house designs.

Internet Safety Training

In accordance with Board Policy 2313/3013/4013 and the 21stCentury Act (Public Law No:110:385, Oct. 10, 2008) all students will be trained annually in Internet safety. School districts are required to educate students about:

Appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms.

Cyber-bullying awareness and response.
